Snow Covered Trees in Plymouth, MA

Our second snow storm of the year covered our tall oaks beautifully today, Joe and I went for a walk in this amazing wonderland. These photos can't really show the fairy tale land that was created, but it's a humble attempt.
I've now had my new Leica X camera for about 3 days, very happy with the images, its lighter weight and sleek design.

Snow fall amounted to a little under 4 inches, much more fell further north.

No power outages, just pretty snow everywhere!

Have a seat

Joe has the best winter gear, getting ready to use snow removal devices.

Nature's gift

A prop for some color. You'll see this in his blog, too :-)

An amazing winter wonderland!!!

Shooting with Friends on the Waterfront in Plymouth

We had a meetup of my camera club last night at the Office Bistro in Plymouth, and spent an hour or so making photos in the rain out front on the waterfront. Lots of great reflections, rain coming down steadily, darkness at 5pm. The car lights, street lights and other shiny surfaces made for some great images, add in an umbrella or 2 and you have a group of people having fun with their cameras capturing what caught our eye. I love the challenge of night photography!
We headed inside for some food and drink in a very comfortable bar, I enjoyed the evening very much with my photo peeps!

This was taken with my Canon 6D through the windshield of my car when I parked.

Steven being a good sport and model. I processed this with a texture in Photoshop.

Car splashing water, me panning with a slow shutter speed.

Another umbrella shot.

 Stepping outside for a cigarette.

Mark and Sean with rain, dark and opportunities!

Ken cosy inside checking out the menu.

Not sure how this bokeh hovered above the plate, a happy accident.

On the way home I shot this through my windshield as I slowed down at a traffic light, lucky shot.

Horses and More at a Horse Farm in Kingston, MA

A PDP (Plymouth Digital Photographers) member offered to host our camera club at his daughter's horse farm in Kingston, MA and 18 of us from PDP went to visit last week. A beautiful farm with the most generous and welcoming family, we were given open access to the riders, helpers and horses. Everyone loved it, and many photos were taken! If we are lucky more people will invite us to see a glimpse of their working life, we get to make images and the people that invite us have access to the photographs we create. A lovely day for everyone!

Beautiful place!

Nicole jumping for us, very focused.

This is her gorgeous horse. Ears back is not what you want on a horse portrait.

Ears forward is much better. Now you know, too :-)

Jeanne talking to the very friendly horses, they enjoyed all the attention!

Love the bangs!

Linda, happy horse farm owner.

Linda and her dad, Phil.

Cover girl horse, she has been on catalog and magazine covers.

Getting the shot...

Gene getting kisses from a friendly horse…maybe a nibble or two. They were very gentle.

A handsome gal, alert, too.

Diane and a few of her chickens.  I love that she lets them live out their lives here on the farm even after they have stopped producing eggs, they are part of the family.

My friend Graham with his fiancé Marlene were at the farm, too. We will be attending their wedding in July, Congratulations!

Good To Be Back Home

After 10 days back home, Puerto Aventuras seems like a dream, I am all settled into my life here in Plymouth. It's good to be home, and it was lovely to be in the sunny and warm Yucatan, too!

Our last morning at the beach, love the early morning light. Villas Del Mar.

Oh, the look! If you have an adult child around 22 years old, you may have seen it :-) Ian doesn't like my iPhone photo compulsion...pretty sure he's not the only one....

New England is getting ready for Spring, outdoor furniture making its annual appearance at Home Depot.

Lots of fun events the past 10 days: My friend from CT, Gail, came for a visit and brought Milo back with her, who got the royal prince treatment at her home. Happy kitty. Gail baked me a delicious vegan birthday cake and is always good company! Happy Amy.
Ian's friend, Keith from Taiwan, stayed a few days while here to photograph snowy owls with Ian, of which we have an abundance.  I didn't get any good photos of those good times, but above is a Lightroom (photo software program) workshop, with Betty as our fearless leader. We have another workshop this weekend, both sold out!

Bartlett Pond frozen over, but a sunny day.

Our snow is slowly melting...

A New England beach scene, soon to have more people on them. Manomet bluffs area.

Holiday House Tour in Plymouth, MA

My friend, Gail, and I had a great time doing a self tour of 5 homes in Plymouth. A fund raiser that included a book of addresses obtained after paying $50, and a ticket for lunch at the country club. A very woman dominated event, car loads of happy women enjoyed seeing the beautifully decorated homes. We'll do it again next year!!

Mayflower Society House, it wasn't on the tour, but should have been.
